About the Project

Aesop approached DFA to submit a proposal for the one-of-a-kind store in Manhattan’s Village . The space is conceived as a solid mass, made out of recycled cardboard tubes in various diameters. The store will be created from carving needed spaces out of the cardboard tubes, creating a lower landscape and an upper landscape. The lower landscape will provide display of the products in each tube and the upper landscape will provide housing for lights. Each tube will have one LED light inside. During the day, the LED light will provide a warm white color on the products, at night,
they can be programmed to create a sequence of light patterns in various colors thus create a spectacle for street walkers.
