About the Project

This project is a collaboration with S+A. The Muscat Master Plan draws inspiration from the timeless beauty and elemental power of the Omani desert. Rather than being placed upon the land, it emerges from it—shaped by the colors, textures, and spirit of its surroundings. Long, linear buildings stretch across the terrain like a mirage, reflecting the soft hues of dawn and dusk as they shimmer against the vast horizon. In contrast, grounded structures echo the solidity of Oman’s mountains, their strong vertical forms embodying stability and endurance. The hospital, envisioned as the desert sky, becomes a sanctuary of light and calm, while the university represents the journey of learning—evolving from simple to complex forms that mirror intellectual growth and discovery.

Rooted in its environment yet forward-looking, the master plan seeks to create a dialogue between land, light, and human experience. It is both a reflection of the desert’s resilience and a vision for the future—where architecture, landscape, and meaning converge to form a place that feels deeply connected, serene, and timeless.
